How My Journey Began
Hi! I’m Shannon, a Certified Professional Coach, Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner, introvert, INFJ, and HSP. I’ve been on a quest to feel known and understood for as long as I can remember, because I’ve always felt different.
I feel things deeply. I spend a lot of time in my head, lost in my thoughts. I love one-on-one conversations and when I’m in a group, I’m completely engaged but prefer to listen and observe. And I’ve spent so much of my life masquerading as an extrovert, wishing I was “normal”—especially at work.
My life coaching journey began when I took a new corporate marketing job only to discover that I was working under a hard-to-please, micro-managing boss who wasn’t a great communicator. Any of this sound familiar?
He slowly killed my confidence as I began questioning my value and whether I even belonged in Marketing. I started wondering if my deepest fears were true: I wasn’t a good enough leader, I wasn’t good at what I do, and… maybe I didn’t deserve a job I love after all.
A Pivotal Moment
On a rainy January day in downtown LA, I was reading a friend’s blog on my lunch break and the phrase “positive psychology” grabbed me. While the term is relatively self-explanatory, it wasn’t one I’d heard before, so I started down a research rabbit hole.
That eventually led me to life coaching, and the moment my eyes landed on this career path I intuitively knew that this is what I was created to do.
How Coaching Changed My Life
Coaching has impacted every area of my life. The internal changes I’ve made have completely transformed my relationship with my husband and the way I show up at work.
I continually do the work to change my beliefs and my thoughts, which helped me get my confidence back and become a more effective leader.
I’ve discovered that not only is masquerading as an extrovert exhausting, but it leads to invalidating my needs, like the time I need to recharge, and holds me back from operating at my best.
I’ve finally uncovered my introverted strengths and experienced first-hand that recognizing, understanding, and owning my unique value as an introvert is the true path to professional and personal success.
